How do you hide .....

This is such a dumb question .... but I can't find how to hide the
cell headers ( A,B,C ... 1,2,3 ).

Tools > Options > View > Unmark "Row & column header" > OK

Tools => Options => 'View Tab' and at the bottom is 'Row and Column
Header'
