OK - I have been reading a lot of threads in this group and it seems
that no one is getting there actual questions answered properly. So to
all you MVPs/MCSEs here goes;

How do you hide the names and email addresses of people in your
distribution list. Everyone knows that if you put your DL in the BBC
field this will work, but I want to put my DL in the TO field and I
only want the recipients of the mail to see the name of the
'DISTRIBUTION LIST' in the TO field and not all of its members.
Remember I DO NOT WANT TO USE THE BCC FIELD to do this.

So how do you do this - can Outlook 2003 do this? Or has this
functionality been lost from previous Outlooks?

Yours gratefuly

James

Outlook has never had a feature like that with regard to personal distribution lists. Maybe you're thinking of a server-based distribution list.

OH - OK Sue, many thans for this advice. Any chance we could get those
good people at Microsoft to create such a feature?
James

That would be highly unlikely, given the number of solutions that already exist:

1) Use a server-based distribution list, either in-house on Exchange, or hosted at MSN, Google, Yahoo, etc.

2) Use Bcc

3) Perform a mail merge

That is not up to Microsoft; it is how the SMTP protocol works.
Instead of making distributionlists you can also assign categories to your
contacts. Then you can easily do a mail merge where only the name of the
recipient will be in the To field.
