I have the system on my Media Center Desktop, but wanted to change my ME OS
to the XP edition I have. Any ideas?

Go buy an upgrade copy of Windows XP.
You cannot use your copy from the other pc.

1) Go to store/shop that sells computer software.

2) Purchase WinXP Upgrade.

3) Return home.

4) Insert installation CD in laptop's CD drive and follow the on-screen
prompts and instructions to install the OS.

Have you verified that all of your PC's hardware components are
capable of supporting WinXP? This information will be found at the PC's
manufacturer's web site, and on Microsoft's Windows Catalog:

You should also take a few minutes to ensure that there are
WinXP-specific device drivers available for all of the machine's
components. There may not be, if the PC was specifically designed for
Win98/Me. Also bear in mind that PCs designed for, sold and run fine
with Win9x/Me very often do not meet WinXP's much more stringent
hardware quality requirements. This is particularly true of many models
in Compaq's consumer-class Presario product line or HP's consumer-class
Pavilion product line. WinXP, like WinNT and Win2K before it, is quite
sensitive to borderline defective or substandard hardware (particularly
motherboards, RAM and hard drives) that will still support Win9x.

First check with the Laptop manufacturer and see if there are XP drivers
for all of the hardware components.

If there isn't, then it's not advisable for you to try and install XP on
your laptop.

Yes, if I understand you correctly, you have two systems. One system is a
Media Center Desktop and the other system is an older computer that shipped
with Me. It is doubtful the ME System would run Media Center, even if it was
available as an install option for Media Center. You can't use the OEM Media
System disks to install on an additional computer. OEM software is limited
to a single computer and cannot be moved to another completely different
computer. OEM versions of XP are no longer sold with hardware on an
individual basis. Purchasing an OEM version is now a crap shoot as to the
validation status.
OEM clarification.
