I've tried tools, internet options:
General, Clear History.
Content, AutoComplete, Clear Forms, Clear Passwords...
Start, Settings, Task bar and start menu, Advanced, Clear
But still when I type in a letter in the address bar a pull down appears
with stuff I had typed in before...

What to do?

Hi,

To clear AutoComplete information of Websites, click on the 'General' tab,
and then 'Clear History'. Although you state that you have tried it, this
_should_ work. You may also consider clearing the Temporary Internet Files.

Try this and then after you have, goto the address bar
and start typing letters a to z and see what happens...
One character at a time, then back space to clear it and move on to
the next.
I wonder if its something that was left behind from a previous version
of ie?

Tried it... Right clicked on it, installed it and went back
to internet explorer and stuff is still there. Type one letter
at a time. a... get a pull down of stuff like a:\, ECS.
b... get another pull down with words that start with b.

See the section on deleting History:
