i just puchased a 300Gb Samsung additional internal hard drive for extra
memory , and i wanting to know how to divide its memory so i can put all my
music in one volume of drive and programs in another volume, games in another
volume, so that if i get a virus is one of my programs i would not have to
wipe my music files off the hard drive to fix the problem with the program

Click Start / Run / diskmgmt.msc {OK}, then
partition your new drive any way you like.

You've gotten an answer.. but I feel compelled to add..

Hard disk space is not "memory".. It is "storage". Long-term, non-volatile
storage.

Memory (in computers) refers to RAM (Random Access Memory) - and most home
systems cannot exceed 4GB of that.

And if you have a decent AV app, and Firewall, it is unlikely you will get a
virus without user 'help'

Not to confuse things but any hard drive space reserved for virtual memory
is on the hard disk already in place prior to acquiring the 300GB Samsung.
"Real" memory is utilized via RAM.

After dealing with relatives and friends in regards to their use of the word
"memory" in regards to the PC, I've given up the battle. I make sure I ask
the right questions when they speak to me in PC pig latin, never do I assume
that I understand at the outset of such a conversation.
