What video card is installed on your system and which version of the
drivers for the card? You should be able to adjust brightness and
contrast with the drivers but for specific instructions we need to know
what hardware/software you are using.

thnx for yr reply. not sure wat a video card is or the drivers for the
card(told ya i was new lol), my hardware is windows xp home edition.

A video card is hardware mounted on the computer mainboard. The video
card sends signals to your monitor. It is possible that your computer
has a video chip on the mainboard and not a video card. In any case, to
get an answer to your question you will have to post information on your
hardware.

Double click on Start\Settings\Control Panel\System then click on the
Hardware tab and Device Manager. You should have the entries Display
Adapters and Monitors. Click on the + before each entry and post what
you find. That won't provide the answer to your question but will give
us a starting point.

You can also try a right click on the Desktop and select
Properties\Settings. Report the information displayed.
