I don't know why Windows decides that I should be viewing my windows
differently than I often want, which is by "details". There must be a way
for me once and for all to set this view preference for ALL windows ALL the
time! Where is it?

Thanks in advance,
-Jake

Hi

Open Windows Explorer and enable View>Details. Then go to Tools>Folder
Options>View and click on 'Apply to All Folders. Restart Windows Explorer.

....and, how about drop-down - Tools | Folder Options | ...click the View Tab
and ticking the check-box for "Remember each folders view settings"
....just a thought.

Which windows are you talking about - are you including the File | Open
and File | Save dialog boxes from within programs?
