How do I view file extensions?

To access a certain server in a game called Magic Online,
you are required to view the file extensions and change
the file name of a file called servers.txt to
servers.old. However, I cannot view the file extension
and therefore cannot effectively change the file name.
 
Mike - go to , say, Windows Explorer, select 'tools' and then 'folder
options' and in the 'view' tab uncheck the box for 'hide extensions for
known file types'. You can do the same thing by going into 'control panel'
and selecting 'folder options'.

Tools, folder options, view tab, ucheck: hide extensions for known file
types.

In Control Panel - Folder Options - View, uncheck 'Hide extensions of
known file types'
