I recently upgraded my laptop by purchasing a larger hard drive and getting
XP pro. During the installation it asked me if I wanted to create a
partition, which I did.
I am not seeing the partition using Windows Explorer. Can anyone give me the
information on how to view that partition???

If you can use Windows Explorer at all, you are seeing the partition. It's
probably called C:

To partition a drive is to create *one or more* partitions on it. You
*must* partition a drive to be able to use it, and you must have at least
that single partition.

If you created only one partition, what you are seeing is normal. If, on the
other hand you created more than one partition, but only see C:, then my
guess is that you didn't format it yet.

I did indeed create a second drive during the installation of XP. In disk
Management the drive shows as unallocated. How do I go about changing that
status or formatting the drive so that I can use it?

OK, if that's what you wanted, good. Right click on it in DM and choose
Format.
