I've got a Dell Dimension 8100, p4 1.3 cpu with a 40 G hard drive. Drive is
partitioned into C and D. On C drive, Windows ME is installed and on D, I
have Windows XP Home.

How do I merge it back into one drive running Windows XP?

Any help would be appreciated!

Jim

Best bet is to buy and use Partion Magic.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Best bet is to delete ME and its partition,xp doesnt need any of it t
operate.Just install xp cd,exit info page, restart computer, boot to xp cd
recovery,press enter for password,at the screen type:DiskPar
In the new window you can delete the partition with M
Then create partition, esc screen,or exit,then type:FORMAT D: /FS:ntf
when its thru type:EXIT In XP go to run, type:diskmgmt.ms
L.click the partition D: action,all,make active,you can R.click on the space,delete partition.

Erm, that's all well and good, but it will destroy the bootloader. Te best
bet would be to reinstall XP on C - it will also destroy the registry as
there will be one drive letter less - programs will be looking for files on
an optical drive! The best bet is to reformat and start over - he'll get
into a terrible mess doing things your way.
