I have a database at work.

As is normal I copied it to my USB Flash Drive and took it home to
work on it

I am unable to add any buttons to the form designs because the project
is locked and non-viewable. (Problem since that is what I was doing
with it at home!!!)

When I do the same at work, it is fine.

Neither end uses passwords anywhere (That I know of)

What am I missing?

HI,

Your USB drive is writable, at home? Is there a dot-ldb file on it
(same name than the application, but with a dot ldb extension)? if so,
rename it (while Access is NOT running) and try again.

Hoping it may help,

Nope - No ldb file!!

Investigating further, it seems the work one has an 'Admin' password
set (Not by me & I wrote the database!!!) So, when I load it into the
home m/c, it's locked!

Need to get one of those M/Soft password recovery programmes!!!

Thks anyway

HI,

You may have to copy the associated mdw file, on the USB drive. If you
can access the database from work, under your database account, it is
probably through the rights associate to your account in the "database
security file", mdw. At home, not finding this file, you have no access to
the secured database. You probably use a shortcut to access the application?
get the command that the shortcut executes, it should mention what mdw file,
precisely, you have to copy.

You may decide to start a new thread in
microsoft.public.access.security, since it is related to security. I doubt
someone will help you to "hack into" the database, but if the standard way
to access it solves your problem... :-)
