My computer is loaded with viruses, and is very screwed
up. I want to uninstall windows XP (Format the C drive)
and re-install it from scratch. How do I do this? Or
where can I find instructions? Thanks

Greetings --

Formatting the hard drive to solve a virus problem is rather like
using an axe to trim one's fingernails. Sure, it'll probably get the
job done, but it's rather messy...., and almost always unnecessary.
What other corrective measures have you already attempted?

Because many of the newer viruses and worms can disable antivirus
applications whose definitions aren't kept up-to-date, try using one
or more of the free on-line scanners to double-check your system.

Trend Micro - Free online virus Scan

McAfee Security - FreeScan

Symantec Security Check

Panda ActiveScan - Free online scanner

If you still wish to proceed:

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Thanks for your relpy! One more question:

It says:
5. Go to BIOS and set CDROM as boot device before hard
drive.

Delete all partitions in step 5 if you desire to erase
all data on the hard drive.

How do I get to the BIOS and how do I delete all
partitions? Thanks again.

That page was not written very well.
It now says "Delete all partitions in step 5 of the above link"
Referring to:

You do not go to the BIOS to change partitions.
However to enter BIOS to change boot order, check your manual and/or
contact the computer/motherboard manufacturer for details as they all
do it differently.

Greetings --

Only you know what motherboard and BIOS you have, so only you know
the answer to your question. ;-}

In the extremely unlikely event that your PC's manual or the
motherboard manufacturer's web site doesn't contain the needed
information, try one or more of the following:

You boot from the CD and do a clean install.
