I am doing a chart with 3 columns -Date, Apt. No. and Complaint. The
complaint column is about 5 inches wide but I need to be able to add more
rows in the cell. After typing approximately 15+ lines it will not take any
more data. If I add the additional data to the edit line at the top it will
not appear in the chart and it will not print. I tried starting on the
following line in a new cell but then when I try sorting the information, it
does not stay in order.

Try throwing in an Alt+Enter (which gives a new line) from time to time.

[And I assume you mean a worksheet, not a chart?]

I tried this and it works to add alot of information on the formula line, but
the longer paragraphs do not appear in the "worksheet" cell and it also will
not print.

Now what - maybe Excel is just not
made for this type of data.

You can enter 32,767 characters in a cell.

Unfortunately only about 1024 will show or print.

If you add an Alt + Enter every 100 characters you can increase this limit.

BTW...............merging multiple cells does not increase this limit.

You still have one cell.

Insert a screen-sized textbox from the Control Toolbox for your needs.
