G Guest Nov 17, 2004 #2 In Word, click on Tools | Options | View | uncheck the "Startup Task Pane" box | OK. If the Getting Started menu continues to pop up, try installing the Task Pane Controller add-in from http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/ShowTaskPane.htm .
