I am recruiting for an administrators role, and i tested a candidate on her
knowledge of word starting with Intermediate level on Thomas International
tests, I found these tests very daunting and harsh and did not let the
candidate relax at all, does anyone know of any other companies that have
theses tests?

Having spent the last five months being off work and having taken several of
those tests, I'll tell you that *nothing* you can do is going to make a
candidate relax. That's not a feature of the test, it's the temperament of
the candidate.

If you have personal expertise in Word, a discussion with the candidate may
be as good as any test. Shauna Kelly has previously posted here that she
starts by asking the candidate if she created her own résumé. Most
candidates will answer yes. She then probes her on how she achieved certain
effects. You could also show the candidate samples of documents she would be
required to prepare and ask her how she would approach them.
