YOU can only tell if your mail server accepted it. If there were no
error in the mail session between your e-mail client and your e-mail
server then your e-mail server has the ball after that. Your mail
server might send back an NDR (non-delivery report) e-mail if there were
problems.

I believe if you configure Outlook to reply to read receipts (requested
by the sender of an incoming message, and which I *never* use and will
always reject) and those go out as a message. However, as I understand,
Outlook will not show outbound read receipt replies in your Outbox (and
I have heard of them getting stuck in the Outbox). I haven't heard yet
how to force Outlook to show ALL outbound messages pending in the Outbox
(and I haven't heard of a fix to eradicate hidden read receipt replies
from your Outbox). I never reply to read receipts, and it is very rare
that I get one (that wasn't for spam for what little of it manages to
leak past my anti-spam filters).
