every time i open outlook 2003 on my xp machine it shows the splash screen
and then brings up "Microsoft LDAP Directory" window with fields to fill in -

Server Name - (set to "null")
Port - (set to "3286")
Password - (set to "null")

The fields are currently filled as they were when i installed the software
and i have not changed them. I do not have a LDAP server, and microsoft help
doesn't seem to tell me what it is or how to switch it off.

if you know how to switch it off that would be most appreciated,

cheers

What kind of email account do you use? If you're using POP, you don't need
the LDAP server. Remove it from your mail profile (tools, email accounts,
view/modify address books).

Go to tools->options->mail setup. Click on the Email Accounts button and
select View or Change under Directories. Remove the LDAP server from there.
My guess (a pretty good one) is that this is an upgrade from Outlook 2000
IMO mode that did not use the Outlook Address Book Service.
