I installed XP Pro clean with SP2 using an particular log-on name. Somehow
in the process of installing host of other apps and rebooting of the PC, my
identity and log-on screens got switched to that of "Administrator" - i.e. I
have lost my "favourites" and my "desktop" which were personalized under my
own log-on identity.

I can't figure out how to switch back - using the "Log Off" option under the
"Start" button keeps on reloading the "Administrator" desktop. I am hoping I
do not have sto start from a fresh install alltogether.

Many thanks in advance for any assistance offered.

Did you setup automatic logon using Start> Run> control userpasswords2 ? If
yes, when asked for user name/password, Administrator was in the user name
box when you set this up. Consequently, Administrator is the account that
is automatically logging on. Go back to that screen. Replace the check
requiring a password to log on. Click OK. Dismiss all screens by clicking
OK.

Repeat the steps. When the screen appears, click on the name of your usual
account and then uncheck the password requirement box. A new screen will
appear. Confirm that the correct user name is shown and then fill in the
password.
