How do I switch Excel 97 from Win 95 to Win XP

I'm moving to a new machine. I just need basic Excel features. I'd be most happy if I could just copy the Excel system from the 95 to the XP, but I doubt that that's an option. As I understand it, an upgrade to Excel 2003 would cost about $110, and a straight purchase of Excel 2003 is over $300. What are my options, and how do I go about executing them?

You cannot copy . Just install your xl97 on the new computer. From what you
say, you don't need a later version. Now, if you had xl95, that would be
different. I have xl95, xl97sr2 and xl2002 all installed on my xp home
machine.

I don't think it is possible to get Excel to work by just copying file
across. You need an installation CD. It is possible to get olde
versions cheaply by keeping an eye on classified advertisements i
local newspapers. Try loot.com
