I'm on a real IP. I don't why XP automatically creates tens of links in My
Network Places? After a day or two I'm forced to delete all the unwanted
nodes and, or shares from this folders.

I'm unable to figure out; How do I configure XP so that it should never
create any unwanted links to shares available on the Internet.

Thanking you in anticipation.
Regards,

Greetings Balwinder,

Open My Computer and click Tools, Folder Options, and then click the View
tab. Make sure the "Automatically search for network printers and folders"
checkbox is unchecked. Then go back into My Network Places and delete all of
the unwanted shortcuts.

In My Computer, click Tools | Folder Options | View. Un-check the box
that says "Automatically search for network folders and printers".

If your computer connects directly to the Internet and has a public IP
address, other Internet users might be able to see your shares, too.
To prevent that, enable the Internet Connection Firewall on your
Internet connection: right click the Internet connection and click
Properties | Advanced.
