Whenever you click to download something a dialogue window comes up and on there is the option where to save a download to. Simply click the browse button and choose where you want it. Good luck. :~)

Create a directory on your hard drive called downloads. Direct all
downloads there.

i have seen this behavior before, when it happens you
don't get an option to choose the location.
some thing has been changed in the registry, some one may
be able to help you.

If I am understanding what you are asking, this is an easy fix.

You are saying that you dont get the dialogue box asking you where you
want to save the file right?

What has happened is at some point or another you checked that little
box on the download dialouge saying to not ask me again.

To correct this...Go to Folder Options and click the File Types Tab.
Scroll down to the file type that is doing this. For example .zip
Click on the "Advanced" button and check the box
"Confirm open after download"

You will now once again get asked for that particular file type where
you want it to be downloaded to. You will need to do this for each
file type that is not working the way you want it to.
