I want to be able to automatically respond to e-mails when I'm on vacation.
Telling the sender that I am on vacation and when I am expected to return, so
that they don't think I'm ignoring their e-mail.

If you don't connect to an Exchange server, there is no automatic out of
office autoreply. You'd have to spoof it with rules, and note that this
means leaving Outlook open, and connected to the internet, for the duration
of your absence.

See http://www.slipstick.com/rules/index.htm for help.

Or check with your ISP/mail host - many offer this feature - I know
Earthlink does.
