I am going out of town and don't want to miss emails. How can I set up an
"out of the office" automatic reply?

If you are connected to Exchange server, use the Out Of Office Assistant. If
you have POP mail, then your best bet is to find out whether your ISP has
such a thing on their mail server.

Hi ray,
without Exchange?
Note! For this to work correctly, do not use Word as your email editor and
choose plain text as your email format.

Furthermore the computer must be online the whole time to run the rule. So
it will be better to use this tip if you have a flat.

1. Create a Template

Open a new email and write your message with the information you want
included.
This information text will be later show up in the respond message.

Save this message as OUTLOOK TEMPLATE

FILE > SAVE AS > choose Outlok Template (.*.oft)

(Note: do not change the location to save the template)

Select a clear name for this template and save it.

2. Create a Rule

TOOLS > RULE WIZARD > NEW

First just leave everything unchecked and click NEXT. (You will get a pop up
window that tells you that this rule will be applied to all mail you
receive) > YES

Note! In Outlook 2002, the first step of the Rules Wizard asks if you want
to base this rule on an existing rule or start with a new rule. Tell it to
start with a new blank rule .

Choose REPLY WITH A SPECIFIC TEMPLATE > Point to your created template and
click OPEN

If you want to setup any exceptions for this rule, you can click NEXT.
Otherwise, just click on FINISH and your rule is made and turned on.

If you don't want the rule to run now, just go back to TOOLS > RULEWIZARD
and locate your rule Uncheck the box beside the rule. Then, you can just
return here before you go away to turn the rule on by checking it again.
When you return home, remember to go back here and uncheck it again to turn
it off, or click on it to select it and click on the button that says DELETE
to remove it completely.

You have also the chance to forward all of your emails to a specific email
address instead of creating a AutoRespond message.

Thank you both...
