How do I set up a volunteer database that tracks hours worked?

I am attempting to set up a database of volunteers that work at company
events. For recognition purposes, I would like to create a database that
tracks their hours worked at these events in addition to their contact info
and volunteer preferences (e.g. type of event, shifts, etc.). Can anyone
please help in a not too technical way or provide me with a pre-made template?
 
There is no such thing as an Access 'template'.
However, Access provides sample databases to execute and study as examples.
Click 'HELP' then 'Sample Databases'.
