In order to set up my boss's daughter's laptop, I connected it to our
corporate network so that I could access the net. This resulted in the
original welcome page being replaced by the domain login screen. Now that
the computer has been set up, I want to restore the original welcome
screen. How do I do this?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are connected to a domain, you will have the domain style login. If
you remove the computer from a domain and it will still give you the login
where you will need to manually type in user and pass, please do the
following:

1. Start > Control Panel > User Accounts
2. Click on Change the way user log on and off
3. tick "Use the welcome screen".

Unfortunately, it sounds as though you joined the laptop to your domain.
This should not have been necessary just to access the Internet, BTW.
In any case, you will now need to first make a local account for the
daughter. Then you can disjoin the machine from the domain and make it
a member of just a Workgroup. Do this from the Computer Name tab in the
System applet.

Open control panel, system, computer name. Click network ID and then "this
computer is for home use and is not part of a business network". Then press
the button under network id that says change and make sure computer is part
of workgoup. If the computer is not networked it doesn't matter what you
call the workgoup just make sure its not part of a domain. If the computer
is part of a peer to peer network name the computer the same as the other
computers in the workgropup.
