Yeah, this is ridiculous, the system tray icon stays after I close outlook and it continues to check my email (which is bad because my imap email servers get whiny if I check them too much) and won't close unless I go close OUTLOOK.EXE in the processes area of the task manager. when I click "open outlook" from the system tray, it says "Outlook is not responding" Of course it's not responding, it's supposed to be closed, why are you still open? What is this stupid system tray icon's purpose? if it doesn't open outlook and doesn't close when I close outlook, what in the world is its purpose, and why isn't there an option to turn it off? if anyone can figure out a registry change to fix this or actually knows where the option to turn it off is, send an email to PeteMCSW at fuse dot net. I'll get it unless my email server is denying me service because Outlook rampantly checks my email every minute because it is having an out of body experience and doesn't know what is open and what isn't...
