How do I remove the default outline format in find and replace?

I have to turn off the formatting almost every time I do a find and replace;
it doesn't even remain off through an entire session of using Word 2007.
This is new to 2007, I don't recall EVER having to do this before.

Word - including earlier versions - retains the last used find/replace
settings until Word is closed.

This is untrue. I've never used outline in my life and I've been using word for many many many years. My find and replace defaults to that same "Outline". Any idea on how to fix this?
