I used to run on a Win98SE machine until very recently, when I took the
plunge and got a new machine with WinXP Home SP2.

Previously on the old machine, I was able to get rid of Find Fast quite
easily. I cannot find an obvious way to get rid of it in WinXP however. Can
some kind soul show me how it is done. It is a right pain a few feet below
the neck!

Thanks for any help

FindFast was an Office utility. Are you thinking of something else?

No, I am not thinking of something else. It came with Office. However, I
think I have found the way to do it anyway. It had not appeared in the
Control Panel applets until after I had rebooted. Now it is visible, I am
able to get rid of it in the usual way.

Thanks for the quick response though. You had managed to answer before I
could give this response about having found it.

Thanks again.

[[Microsoft Office Find Fast. This gets installed with Microsoft Office
95/97/2000. The supposed benefit of Find Fast is that it will enable you to
find documents faster from within Microsoft Office. In practice : as with
TASKMON it makes no visible difference to end-users, particularly on
nowadays fast PCs. Thus, not only is Find Fast a total waste of time, but
it is also a very significant annoyance too since, on many PCs, it results
in the PC seemingly "freezing" for 2 to 5 seconds.]]
