How do I remove bottom band on Excel page to see worksheets?

There is a band across the bottom of my Excel spreadsheet. It says Ready at
the left. It makes it impossible for me to access the worksheets that are
part of this spreadsheet. How do I go back to the original format without
the band/margin at the bottom?
 
Are you sure the Status Bar is the problem?

If you can't see the sheet tabls....
Try this:

From the Excel main menu:
<tools><options><view tab>
Check: Sheet tabs

If the Status Bar IS the problem....you can UNcheck it at that same location.
