How do I remedy Outlook email Error 505

When trying to send email when connected to the internet via AOL I get the
message error:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
550 relay not permitted
I can receive & send email to myself & can send test messages from outlook
but cannot always send email to others using my pop3 email account.

You probably need to authenticate to your outgoing server - set that up on
the "Outgoing server" tab for your account.
