Hi.

I wanted to record a lon sound file ... say read a child's book about 35
pages long.... for instance... Cat in the Hat.

I want to record and save it and transfer it to an audio CD-r. I will be
speaking into my headset mic that is hooked into the PC.

Well, all I can figure to record on is the stuoid sound record which will
only let me record 60 seconds at a time. THAT STINKS!!!

is there any other option with the programs I ALREADY HAVE on the computer??

Thanks

This is surely the "long" way around it for sound recorder:

Make sure your microphone is muted so it will not pick up sound.
Click Record, and then let Sound Recorder run for 60 seconds.
After Sound Recorder stops recording, click Save As on the File menu, and
name the file Blank.wav.

To increase the maximum recording time in Sound Recorder, click Insert File
on the Edit menu, and then insert the Blank.wav file that you saved. When
you do this, the maximum recording time is increased by 60 seconds. You can
repeat this step once for each additional minute of recording time that you
want to add. For example, for a 5-minute recording time, insert the
Blank.wav file five times.

first, thanks for replying! I appreciate that!

Second.. is this the only way? ugh! it's going to be like a 15 minute
file.

are there any programs that COME with my system that can record longer
audio?

ugh!

LOL!

Kelly may have specific suggestions. Visit http://google.com and search
for "sound recorders".
Also, some soundcards are bundled with utilities. This Creative
SoundBlaster card, for example, came with RECORDER, which does a nice job
of recording any sound that one can hear.

The free "Scanrec" application will do it for you... no time limit, other
than your HDD size. It records in WAV format, and you have a few basic
setting options.

It's pretty intuitive, just be sure to set your audio settings (via the
volume icon on your toolbar) to "recording" and select Mic as the input
source.

Scanrec is a quick free download at www.davee.com - its name is really
"scanner recorder" but works just dandy for what you want to do.

Hello Suga.
In Sound Recorder - if you click on the record button again at the 60
seconds time limit, it will continue to record for a further 60 seconds. I
tried up to 180 seconds record time and it played back all ok without having
to save the file in between
