How do I read and write on a scanned document

I often scan documents or recipes into Word Doc. How do I change the text
from read only to read and write? Thanks

The only way to "scan them into Word" is to use OCR software, but the
output of OCR software is a readable Word file.

So are you scanning printed documents with your scanner, so that they
become graphics files? If that's what you're doing, you need to "scan"
them, not "copy" them -- different buttons on your all-in-one printer,
probably.
