How do I put a list of items in alphabetical order with Word?

I have a very long list of items to which I often refer. Putting the list in
alphabetical order would save time. Can someone tell me how to do that? Thanks
 
If the list comprises one item per paragraph, select the list then table >
sort.

If each item is in a separate paragraph (or in the same table column but in
different rows), you can use the Sort command.
