I am using Word 2002 and each time I make an amendment to
a document and claose the file the amendments are saved
automatically.

I want to have the choice to save the amendments or not
as the case may be but I simply cannot find out how to
prevent these automatic saves - please help.

Hi Paul,

You mean you close and Word doesn't prompt whether to save
changes? This is the symptom of an older macro virus (one
of the original ones), so you should check your system.

If that's not it, then it's likely another macro or addin
(probably named AutoClose).

Dear Cindy

I do not have any add-in programmes and I have always
used Norton antivirus continually - no reports have ever
emerged re a virus.

How else can I check ?

Are you using the NAV Office Plugin? That is an addin, and
it has been known to cause all kinds of problems. If you
disable that, is there any difference?

The next thing to try is to start Word in "Safe Mode": hold
down CTRL and start it up. Things will look odd... but see
if the problem persists?
