When I receive an Word e-mail attachment it changes my toolbar configuration
(presumably to that of the originator). Once I close the document and reopen
Word, it is again configured to their toolbar.

I never want my toolbar to change. How do I accomplish that?

Thanks everyone for your help.

There's really no way to keep your toolbars from changing if someone has made
some toolbar adjustments saved in their document. What you could try, however,
would be to first start Word and open a document of your own. Then open the
attachment, and be sure to close the attachment before closing your document.
More recent versions of Word retain the toolbar settings of the last document to
be closed during the last session.

Other than that, you could use a macro to (re-)set your toolbars.
