I am doing a presentation in powerpoint, and for the first time I want to use
part (not all of) a mpeg I have on my hard drive to illustrate a point - can
anyone help me?

Greetings,
I would reccomend editing it in Windows Movie Maker and cutting out the part
that you don't want and save it as a new file. Then you can put it in. :-)

Once your mpeg is running, you can stop it at the point where you want to by
advancing to the next frame. You may have to click twice, once to stop the
video and the next to move to the next frame.

Peds,

Something along these lines.

windows xp
start > run > mplay32
File > open > your mpeg file
edit menu > selection > from 00:xx:00 to 00:yy:00 > OK
edit menu > copy

powerpoint > paste
