How do I permanently turn off the office clipboard

Using a new installation of Word (2003 Office Prof. Edition), with each new
file the Office Clipboard automatically opens up. If I disable the function
in the options tab of the clipboard, it will reappear in a new file.

How do i permanently disable this annoying feature?

What seems to work for me - Turn on the ClipBoard Task Pane & click the
Options button at the bottom. Turn of *both* 'Show Office Clipboard
Automatically' & 'Collect without Showing...". This doesn't "permanently
disable" it but it does keep it under a tight (useful) rein.
