How do I open Works 4.0 (.wps) files with Word 2003?

I do most of my homework on an old Pentium 133 because it harbours less
distractions than my main computer. This means I have to use the Microsoft
Works 4.0 that came with it. Unfortunately, it's not connected to the printer
so I have to put the Works files on a floppy, bring them to the other
computer, open them in Word, and print. Now, up until about a week ago this
was okay. The first time I tried it, Word had me install the text converter
and everything went fine after that. But then I decided it was time for a
wipe, (the Windows installation was about 9 months old) so I backed up my
files, wiped the hard drive, and reinstalled everything. Standard operating
procedure. The problem is, now when I try to open .wps files with Word, it
doesn't ask me to install the converter. It just opens them as garbled text.
I did a full install this time as well as the previous time (including Office
Shared Files and Office Tools), so I know I'm not missing anything I had
before. Does anyone know where I can find the text converter I need?

What you are missing is the fact that thanks to security issues Microsoft
has removed or modified some of its older converters in recent updates. The
older converters are linked from my website downloads page. You can add them
at your own risk and Word should work as before.

Never open or save documents in Word directly to or from floppy disc. This
is the most certain method of introducing document corruption. Always copy
to and from the hard disc before working on the document.

Put the extract the .cnv files into the folder indicated on the web page
from which you downloaded them.
