That's helpful, thanks.

But I seem to recall past versions of MS Word simply opening immediately at
the view of the last edit. Is there any way to configure Word 2003 to do
that? Mine now seems to be set to open every document at its top view.

I don't recall that feature in older versions of Word, but you could
write your own AutoOpen macro which did it whenever opening any file.
Maybe that's what you had running on prior versions.

That's a good idea, and I may do that.

The prior version I was using was Office 97, and I know I was not using a
macro then, but I know my documents would always open automatically to the
view of my last edit.

It had to have been a macro. No version of Word ever did this.

Now, WP can be configured to open to the last edit. Perhaps that is
what you are thinking of?
