I am maintaining a document of about 250-300 pages for the users of a
program. This document is frequently updated.

How can I automatically note the portions of the document that changed from
the previous version, so the users can review only the changed material. The
old IBM method was to use the symbol for logical not | immediately to the
right of the paragraph(s) that were changed.

Thanks for your help in advance.

When you use the Track Changes feature, you can include change bars. In some
versions it is then possible to hide the other markup (by setting the
formatting of additions to None and deletions to Hidden), leaving only the
change bars. To accomplish this manually, you'd need to add a left (or
right) border to just the changed paragraphs or insert drawing lines next to
the changed material.
