How do I make my C: partition bigger?

Windows has outgrown my 2GB C: partition. I have another
8GB in a second partition on the same drive. How do I take
some of the space out of the second partition and put it
in the first? The Windows help files don't tell me much
about how to do this.

Thanks!

Buy Partition Magic.

You can also do this with DriveImage or Ghost, which when purchased provides
future usefulness for back-ups.

Image the system partition (without the MBR) to CD.
Image the Data Partition separately to CD.

Repartition the drive and reformat if using DriveImage... no need to
reformat if using ghost.

Install w2k from the original CD into the new system partition.
Then restore the System image back over the new system partition.

Finally, restore the Data Image to the new data partition.

You can also download DriveImage for a free 30 day trial period:

I highly recommend both Ghost and DriveImage... each has it's own strengths
and weaknesses... but together make a very powerful system maintenance tool.

Windows has no tools to do this. You might look for a product called
Partition Magic which will do this and much more.

Be certain that your PC and its BIOS support "Large Block Addresses".
Older machines are limited to 2GB in the boot partition.

NT4 was limited to either 2GB or 4GB depending on how the boot partition was created. This
however has NOTHING to do with the BIOS because the BIOS looks at the entire hard disk not
partitions. Operating Systems deal with partitions.
