How do I make an interactive index

I am trying to make an index in a word document where, like the TOC, I click
on the number and go to that page.

Create your page and or index.
Highlight the word or words you wish the "click" to function on and
INSERT / HYPERLINK.

Please Note: for links to remain functional your directory structure should
similar to a website structure (your hyperlinks in the same folder/directory
or the folder/directory below the folder/directory which contains your
index page. Else Word will automatically create/correct non-functional links
for invalid path links.
