Is it as simple as splicing in the center?

solid green to solid orange
solid orange to solid green
green/white to orange/white
orange/white to green/white

Factory made CO cables not avail.

Any ideas?

Take your cable to a computer repair shop.. they can convert and test the
cable for integrity.. splicing in the middle is not good thing to do with
any cable of any type..

This is a good idea... I will this weekend. But right now, I had
two-way TCP-IP file sharing over the NICS using my rigged x-over
cable. But then, I plugged my USB/cable modem in, and set the XP
firwall on. I bet you can guess my question: Now I cant access either
my main desktop PC or the net from my slave laptop. What next?

Thanks!

Go to COMPUSA or any other big computer store and buy a short RED
crossover cable. Make it read so that you always know it's special.
DOn;t use red for any other ethernet cable.

If you need a lomg run buy a CAT5 gender mender that will connect two
RJ45 jacks as an extension cord.

You'll find these things a good addition to you rtool box.

Thank you for the suggestion, I've got the pin-outs. I don't have a
crimper. What do you think of the splices in the middle to achiev the
same switch of wires as in the diagrms. ??

Thanks

I think that a cable with splices would be unreliable and might not
work at all.

Thanks, if I get the chance, I'll try it. Now, I can share files
between both PCs. Also, the host accesses the 'Net fine. But my
laptop won't go on the 'Net. This seems like an easy question if ya
know the answer... Thanks so far, anybody have a suggestion how to get
my client to access the 'Net through the host?

Thanks
