How do I lock a document so others can not format it?

Hi,

I'm trying to figure out a way I can prevent others from formatting a
document I've spent time formatting. I don't want them to be able to change
the styles or formatting, but I'd like them to be able to edit information in
the document.

What version of Word?

Hi, I realize this is an ancient post, but this is exactly what I am trying
to figure out how to do. I use Word 2002, but others in the office also use
2003. (I don't know if there are any 2000 users here though.) So, got any
words of wisdom? (No pun intended. :-)

Word 2003 allows styles to be locked down, but if these documents are opened
in a previous version, the restrictions will not, I belive, apply.
