I would like to create a summary document by using portions of another
document and link them so I only have to update the main document.

In the original documents, bookmark what you want to include. Insert
Bookmark
In the summary document use an IncludeText field that refers to both the
file and its bookmark.

I am not sure that I understand. The bookmarks only link you to a point in
the original document. I need to be able to see several paragraphs of the
original document in the summary document.

Bookmark the text in the original document. In the summary document Insert |
File, select the original document, and specify the bookmark as the "range."
The bookmarked text will be inserted.

Hi Ray-

It sounds like your bookmarks were created while the insertion point was in
a specific spot. that is why the links work that way.

What Suzanne & Charles are saying is select the entire passage to be linked
to and _then_ bookmark the passage, not just a specific spot.
