Help - Outlook wants to pull all all of my email (1200) that are saved on
the server. How do I only receive todays mail and not everything that is
saved on the Yahoo server?

You'd have to have Outlook retrieve only headers then choose the items you
want, as far as I know

you'll need to move them to a new folder. if you are leaving things on the
server, outlook will get all the mail then only the new mail, unless you
keep using new profiles. you can try headers only -it'll get all 1200
headers and you can choose which to download.

What I'd do would be to use a web interface to create another folder on the
server and move to it all the messages I didn't want Outlook to download.
If Outlook has never downloaded the messages before, it considers them new
even if you've downloaded them or read them with some other client (the mail
server doesn't retain that information for POP) and will download them.

Okay - thanks for this info. I started marking all the messages read so that
it will only see the new ones. Thanks for your help.

Marking them read via a web interface will not affect their status as far as
Outlook is concerned. It neither knows nor cares what the web interface
knows. If Outlook itself has not downloaded it before, Outlook will
consider it new and download it. The only thing that will prevent it from
doing so, other than having already downloaded it once, is if it isn't in
the Inbox on the mail server.
