how do i lengthen the windows startup sound?

Can anyone help me to increase the length of the startup sound in windows
xp?

I have replaced the original wav file with a much longer wav file but it
only plays about 15 seconds of it.

I have found a site online that claims to have the solution but they of
course charge to supply the answer.

Funny, I have a 25 second piece that plays just fine on login. What is the
filesize?
