How do I keep large files and do a clean restore

My system restore does not work. I downloaded a patch but that was to late to get my files back to a clean state. I dont mind loosing most files but I have large files with music and movies ect that I really dont want to give up just to restore my filing system

You should back up your files burning CDs or DVDs

Windows XP System Restore usually will have no effect on those files,
they're safe. If your System restore isn't working, try turning it off
and on, creating a restore point and testing.
