How do I keep a hyphenated word/number from breaking at the margin

I am typing a word document and I have a phone number that always breaks at
one of the hyphens. Isn't there a way to make sure the number will move to
the next line rather than break at one the hyphens when it comes to the
margin. I know that I can put in additional spaces before the number, but
that would cause problems if you had to edit the paragraph. Has anyone found
a way to fix this?

You want a non-breaking hyphen. You can insert one by
clicking on:

Insert > Symbol > Special Characters

The non-breaking hyphen is the third from the top.

The normal shortcut for this is control+_
(control-underscore).
