I'm using Excel 2003 and have 1800 rows. I need to number them 1 through
1800. Is there a way to number each row (colum A) automatically?

Thanks.

a really easy way is to goto cell a2 type in 1>goto a3 type in 2> select
both>drag down.

Enter a 1 in say A2 and an 2 in cell A3. Then highlight both cells and drag
them both, using the 'fill handle' (square in bottom right of cell) and drag
to A1801. Excel will automatically increment each cell by 1

....even easier:

if you already have the entries in column , just follow Don and Nick's
instructions, but instead of dragging down double clic on the "fill handle"
(square in bottom right of cell).

Thanks everyone! Got it done.

Just another way is to put 1 in A1, then with A1 selected, do Edit | Fill |
Series...
Select "Column", and a stop value of 1800.
Another way is to put =Row() in A1. Then type A1:A1800 in the name box to
select that area.
Then do Ctrl+D to fill down.
